Space for Hire

The Space has been developing as an Arts Centre serving the community over the last five years. The building started life as a temperance hall in 1879 and has had a chequered history since then! There are plans to reburbish the building in the near future and develop the programme and marketting of events. Currently, The Space runs a proportion of the programme, including the film club, but hirers and promoters determine much of the programme. As you can see by our What’s On section there is a good mix of performance events and workshops.

Here is a brief overview of the facilities we currently have available to hire:

The Main Hall

Accommodates 200-standing/150 sitting. It has a wooden floor, an adjustable stage, a lighting rig, sound system, projector and 16’ screen, piano and full drum kit. There is a small dressing room adjoining the stage and a bar selling bottled beers, wines and soft drinks situated in one corner of the room. Seating can be arranged in rows or caberet style with chairs and tables. <photos imminent!>

The Long Room

Recently refurbished, the Long Room is an exciting new exhibition space that is also great for smaller events, meetings, rehearsals and workshops.

It measures 12m x 5m approx. and has a wooden floor.

It accomodates up to 50 standing.
